1. Information we handle
Accounts and profiles
Guest use creates a technical account identifier so we can provide sessions and maintain a token balance. Guest identifiers can persist between visits; guest use does not mean that no data is stored. When you sign in, we process your email address, account identifier, authentication credentials or session tokens, and information provided by your chosen sign-in provider, such as your name or profile image. We also process profile details you choose to provide, such as a display name or avatar.
Watch parties and communication
We process party identifiers and invite codes, participant identifiers and presence, selected streaming service, video URLs or identifiers and titles, playback position, play/pause/seek events, and watch duration to keep a party synchronized. We process the chat messages, reactions, playlists, and other content you share, along with relevant timestamps. Social and moderation features may also use friend relationships, blocks, reports, or bans.
When you enable your microphone, your audio is transmitted to the voice service and other participants in the party. Microphone access requires permission. Other participants can hear what you transmit and may independently record or share it.
Watch Tokens and subscriptions
We process your token balance, watch-time usage, grants and deductions, reward-attempt identifiers, and refill history. For purchases and subscription management, we process account-linked customer identifiers, product and entitlement information, transaction references, purchase platform, and subscription status or expiry. Payment providers handle checkout and payment credentials; TurtleTV does not receive your full payment-card number from those checkout flows.
Technical, usage, and support information
Our Services and providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, operating system and app versions, language, approximate region, request logs, performance information, and errors. Mobile features also use onboarding and feature-interaction events. Where enabled, mobile diagnostics include session replays used to investigate errors. If you contact support, we receive the information and attachments you send.
Optional mobile features
If you choose a profile photo, we process the image for upload and safety review. If you use message translation, the message text and target language are sent to the translation service. If you connect Google Drive, we use the authorization you grant and selected-file information to let you choose and play videos; a video you share with a party exposes its shared link and associated details to participants. These features are not required to browse the website.
2. How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, deliver and synchronize watch parties, enable communication, maintain token balances, fulfill purchases, manage subscriptions, provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and diagnose and improve the Services. Where advertising is enabled, advertising providers process information as described below.
Where a legal basis is required, we rely on providing the service you request, legitimate interests such as security and reliability, applicable legal obligations, or your consent, depending on the activity. You can withdraw consent where processing relies on it, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
4. Chrome extension data and permissions
The extension reads supported watch-page URLs, video information, and player state to create or join parties and synchronize playback. It uses tab and scripting access to connect those pages to the sidebar, local storage for authentication and preferences, identity features for sign-in, and background/offscreen functionality to maintain party connections. Voice uses microphone access when enabled.
When you open Watch Tokens from the extension, the website and extension can exchange authentication and wallet information to associate the visit with the same account, including a guest account. Subscription management uses your account identifier to request the applicable management destination from our subscription provider.
We do not collect general browsing history for advertising. Information obtained through the extension's watch-page access is used for its user-facing features, not to target advertisements or sell browsing profiles. Web rewarded ads are requested on the Watch Tokens website, not injected by TurtleTV into YouTube or Netflix playback.
5. Advertising, cookies, and local storage
Essential storage. We use browser or app storage and authentication technology to keep you signed in, retain preferences, connect a wallet, and handle pending token claims. Clearing this storage may sign you out or make an unlinked guest account and its balance inaccessible.
Rewarded advertising. Where enabled, you can choose to view an ad for a disclosed Watch Token reward. Advertising providers may receive device and browser identifiers, IP address, approximate location, consent signals, and ad-interaction information to deliver, measure, and protect advertising. TurtleTV records the reward outcome and token transaction for your account. Availability varies by platform and region; describing advertising here does not mean ads are enabled on every page.
On web pages where Google advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize ads based on those visits, subject to applicable consent and settings. Other participating ad vendors may use their own cookies or similar technology.
You can manage Google personalized-ad choices at My Ad Center, learn how Google uses partner-site information at Google's partner-sites policy, and find participating industry opt-outs at YourAdChoices. Opting out of personalization does not necessarily stop all advertising.
Use the consent or privacy controls presented where ads are available to make or change applicable choices. Where required, we obtain consent before using nonessential advertising storage or personalization. A choice to watch a rewarded ad is separate from consent to personalized advertising. You can also manage browser cookies, device advertising settings, and app permissions. Browser and device settings may need to be changed separately on each device.
6. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining accounts and balances, providing party features, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and meeting legal or accounting requirements. Different records have different lifetimes: local session data, chat history, backend records, logs, and backups may be retained differently. A message disappearing from a chat interface does not establish that every related server record or backup has been deleted.
We use measures such as encrypted network connections, authentication, and access controls to protect information. No service can guarantee complete security. Uninstalling the extension or app removes neither all backend account records nor an active paid subscription.
7. Your choices and privacy rights
- Choose guest mode where available, or link/sign in to an account to retain access across devices.
- Update available profile settings; leave a party or mute your microphone to stop sharing live participation or audio as applicable. Revoke microphone permission in browser or device settings.
- Manage a subscription through the store or billing portal where it was purchased. Deleting data and cancelling a subscription are separate actions.
- Contact turtletv.app@gmail.com to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your information. Include enough information to locate your account, but do not send passwords, payment-card numbers, or authentication tokens. For a guest account, contact us before clearing local data so we can help identify the account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain advertising-related sharing. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request and may retain information where legally required or permitted. You may raise a concern with your local data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising applicable privacy rights.
8. Children
The Services are not intended for children under 13, or a higher minimum age where applicable law requires it. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the applicable age. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the Services change. We will publish the revised policy here, update the date above, and provide additional notice or request consent where required.
